Our facility is fitted with a range of state-of-the-art equipment, selected such that each piece is technically applicable for use and meets the highest standards for temperature control and emergency backup. Each piece of equipment has an individual preventative maintenance schedule and redundancy is considered for each type of storage. The range of equipment includes:
- Cold Room (2ºC to 8ºC)
- Freezer (-20ºC to -80ºC)
- Liquid Nitrogen
Cold Room
The cold room is constructed from 100mm thick insulated sandwich panels, compromising two skins of 0.60mm off white steel Colorbond permanently laminated to a core of expanded polystyrene insulation. The floor panels are covered with aluminium checkerplate. The room has one manually operated sliding door 2,100 x 1,500mm, and six tier high x 450mm deep zinc plated steel coldroom shelving.
The room has a duel refrigeration system compromising of two 2.3Hp Fridgebox refrigeration Units with matching evaporators. These units are run, one week on, one week off. Each unit is controlled by a Phasefale TACm control unit connected to the Facility CC50 Security System.

In order to provide further security for your samples each freezer is connected to our central security system. A scheduled preventative maintenance program is in place to minimize the risk of equipment failure. 24x7 emergency service is part of our risk management plan
Liquid Nitrogen
Liquid nitrogen storage systems are vacuum insulated chambers filled with liquid nitrogen. Samples can either be stored in the liquid phase at -196°C or in the vapor phase above the liquid level at -150°C.
